Matt Young, Membership Chair

Matt Young is a co-founder of UVYP and has been a loyal member ever since the very start of its humble beginnings. Matt has served on the Board since its inception in late 2011 and has acted as the Board’s Secretary since January 2013. Matt’s dedication during the group’s formation has surely played a large role in its success. Matt designed the logo and many other materials for UVYP.

Professionally, Matt is a cartoonist and graphic designer hailing from Pittsburgh, PA. He moved to Vermont in 2008 to get his MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction. Since arriving, he’s worked in a variety of jobs all around the Upper Valley, from the Anesthesiology department of DHMC to the Strafford Organic Creamery in Strafford, VT. He volunteers with Granite United Way, who awarded him the Give Award for leadership in 2011. His production co-op, the Appalachian Mortician’s Club, won 3rd place in the annual CATV Halloween-O-Thon competition (2013) and took a special award for best soundtrack.

Matt is a member of the Trees & Hills comics group of VT, NH, & western MA (www.treesandhills.org), has done illustration and design work for the Hartford Historical Society, Upper Valley Life magazine, the Corporate Action Network, the United Way, and Dartmouth College.
